2 nights is idea here for us. Sadly, in the middle of some form of rebranding/refurb ongoing.

Close to a beach with multiple bar/restaurant stops- a good and pleasant walk.

The first room offered (upgraded from superior to deluxe) was not clean especially in the shower. We were eventually moved to another room far more acceptable.

Great location, views, food - but under renovation

The kitchen at Blue Beach Galle was excellent - it did not fail us even once during our 5 day stay. The staff was responsive and went out of their way to provide authentic - and delicious - traditional Sri Lankan breakfasts as we had requested. Chef Prakash took a personal interest and surprised us every day with local specialities from milk cake and fish curry, thosai, to hoppers with egg/ string hoppers with curry sambol and chutneys, and even procured and served us the delicious "paan" or local Sri Lankan bread available in the bakeries, for breakfast. Their array of Lurpak butter and marmalade and unique jams (strawberry, wood apple, and melon!) elevated the toast and tea experience. And of course, the Dilmah teas were wonderful. We also loved their simple soups ( but don't expect the classic sweet corn chicken soup - they have no clue what that is!) and Asian fare - and our favourite dinner order was the chicken kothu paratha - another local specialty which is like a sort of scrambled paratha cut into strips and stirfried with egg and chicken - absolutely delectable. The omelettes here have a distinct Sri Lankan taste that we loved. The kitchen under Chef Prakash packed an excellent breakfast takeaway on the morning of our checkout comprising omelette sandwiches, marmalade sandwiches, pineapple and papaya fruit bowls and even small bottles of water. The entire service staff (housekeeping and F&B) was courteous, friendly, and ready to fix the numerous issues we had - always with a smile. We also loved our clean and comfortable sea-facing rooms - it was fantastic to wake up every day to the sight of the vast rolling Arabian Sea. It was reassuring to see that the rooms were exactly as shown in the pictures. The hotel is excellently located, practically at a midpoint between Galle Fort to one side and the beaches of Unawatuna and more on the other side, both a convenient tuk tuk ride away.

Both booking.com and the hotel website failed to reflect the fact that the hotel was under a takeover and was being renovated. The rooftop restaurant and swimming pool were therefore not available. The entire lobby where we had our rooms smelt musty as if it had not been aired and the wooden floor had loose floor boards - one of us even tripped on it although, luckily, she was not hurt. The lockers did not work; dental kits were missing. On day two, the toilet malfunctioned, and while a new room was promised to address the issue, it did not happen the way it should have. The front desk manager was not upfront about this change and was not available to address our concerned queries when we returned in the evening. The job was left to newly hired staff who had no real clue what to do. None of the managers were available to resolve the issue. While the toilet was fixed, communication was poor and irresponsible creating anxiety. The beach mentioned in the description is across the road, and while scenic and fairly clean ( we spotted some garbage at one corner), is not suitable for a swim or a relaxed beach experience. There was also an issue of overcharging the credit card for an amount of USD 80 - apparently a booking.com error. Had we not pointed this out ( the charged amount exceeded the booking.com confirmation amount ) the error would have gone unnoticed. The hotel then adjusted it against transport and the matter was resolved satisfactorily. However, we appreciate the fact that everyone tried their best to address the issues despite the fact almost none of the staff seem to have professional hospitality training. The hotel, which looks visibly run down in many places, badly needs proper renovation and the staff ( whose attitude is good) needs proper training.

It is not a place for a long stay, but great if you are going to/coming from the mountain.

We were there for 1 night only and the only downside was the train passing under the windows + the noise from the factory next door. Everything else was OK.

Lovely staff in a nice hotel overlooking the beach

Friendly staff, made a big effort with cleaning the room. Gave us new water everyday and whenever we ordered with reception, it was delivered in seconds. The staff were the heroes of this hotel. Also has a gym! Walking distance from Dewata beach, bars and restaurants. Highly recommend the Catamaran on Dewata beach, especially on Wednesday they have great performances, music.

Although hotel has beautiful sea view. It is on the main road, so noises can be bit loud. You will have to get a tuk tuk to get to Unawatuna or Galle, but they are frequently available and cheap enough.

Our room was facing the beach. We were here in the off season hence we could get the room with the best view.

The curtains were unclean. The lobby AC was not on most of the times and the rooftop restaurant wasn't functional.

We liked almost everything regarding hotel itself. Just if you plan to spend your time just on beach keep in mind that hotel is not located directly at the beach. You have to cross main street of Galle in order to reach wild one or to take transport to go to the main beach.
